Durable pedal cycle
This is a durable pedal exerciser. I had bought another that was mad of thinner metal tubing and the gear case melted and broke off. Amazing. It peeled off like clay. This model is much stronger. 2008-12-23

Exercise
I purchased the Instride Cycle for my mom to use to strengthen her arms and leg muscles. It's great for older adults that don't get very much exercise. I'm very pleased with it and so is she. 2008-12-23

Instride review
I like the product and it is good for the price although I would have liked to see it a little more durable especially in the main bearing area. It will serve my purposes of 10 to 20 minutes of use every day quite well I believe. 2008-12-20

Not your "normal" use
I recently purchased 2 of these for my assistant and I to use in our middle school library. After a few days, we moved them out from under out desks and out into the main part of the room. Immediately, we noticed several of our more reluctant readers would sit quietly and PEDAL while they were reading. I've noticed one particular young man has increased his reading dramatically when he is allowed to use the "bike thing", as they call it. I'm currently talking with my PTO to see if they will give me funds to purchase more. GREAT PRODUCT ! ! ! I did remove the timer simply b/c middle schoolers love to keep pushing buttons. 2008-12-16

My lazy-man's office workout
One day I decided to stop sitting slovenly at my desk getting fatter by the day and actually do something about my health. After two months of pretending I might go to the gym, then not, I ordered this little cycle.
First off, let me say that I use it on a very low-pile carpeted floor and, as sent from the factory, it perpetually slipped. I fixed this with some superglue to the footcaps and haven't had that issue since.
Second, like others, I found that after 5 or 10 minutes of use it would overheat and squeel loudly. A trip to my local hobby store netted a bottle of liquid graphite (the same stuff used to lube the wheels on pinebox cars), and again the issue was resolved.
So, after conquering the (I can only assume deliberate?) design challenges by the manufacturer, I've been using this little guy for several months with great results. Of course it's a terrible substitute for a real workout, and yes I will probably go to hell for implying otherwise, but for people like me who will only really choose between "do little" or "do nothing", this is a great little something to do.
