Nice Monitor, Nice Everyday Watch
After researching several HR writst monitors, I decided on the T5J031 for the following reasons: (1) the face is large enough to read without straining while exercising, (2) it's lightweight, (3) it has many features, and alerts when moving into/out of the different burn levels, (4) my everyday watch broke, and this monitor is also a watch, (5) the price was not outrageous, and (6) it's made by Timex. I am very satisfied with the purchase.

Great Running Assistant
Pros:
It does everything I think that it should do. and it looks like a normal enough watch that you could use it anytime you wanted a less formal watch.
Cons:
I like to see where I am in the zone sometimes as well as my time, and sometimes I want to see my heart rate and my time, but you have to press the button like 5 times to switch between them. this is kind of annoying, but they clearly can't fit all that information on the screen without making it huge and I like that you can see any combination of 2 pieces of information.
I think that it is great, but I have never used a HRM before, and have nothing to compare it too, but I would recommend it to anyone who was looking to get one.

water damage after first swim
This watch is not water-proof at all. The first time I went swimming water leaked inside and now the display is not readable. I swim laps, no diving - I'm very disappointed with this product. 2008-06-03
Timex Works Great!
My personal trainer told me to buy a heart monitor, but the one he suguested was really expensive, so I shopped around and found this Timex product. I like the fact that you can replace the batteries and of course the price. Start up was easy, however it takes a little time to learn all the mutli-function buttons. The chest band is comfortable and I have no problems with monitor picking up my heart rate. It has been a great purchase so far. 2008-05-17
My first HRM
I have run used this HRM for several weeks now and am pretty happy with it. It is my first one, so I have nothing to compare it to. I have found it to be quite easy to use and very helpful in making my runs meaningful. I have used it at the Y a few times and it doesn't work with their machines. I ran a 5k with it and for some reason it didn't start sending a good signal until half way through. I like the cal. function and I like that I can see the heart rate, the zone I am in, and the time all at once.
As far as keeping it simple and stupid, this watch is it. Nothing too fancy, just another extremely reliable Timex product.
