Timex Ironman T5J985 Unisex Trail Runner Bodylink Heart Rate Monitor Watch

Totally excellent! I've tried several heart monitor watches before and took all but one of them back, either because the manual was gibberish or because they didn't pick up my heart rate. I had a pretty good Polar but the band was really too small and eventually broke from being stretched.

Picked up heart beat and GPS signal quickly. Heart immediately, GPS after a few minutes.

Comfortably long band, which none of the other watches I've tried had.

Manual is handy size and WRITTEN IN ENGLISH (sorry for shouting) not translated from Klingon by someone with only a one-week crash course in English. Easy to understand and follow. How often have you found a manual like that, ever?

Indiglo night light looks really cool but I can't read it. Don't think I'll ever use the watch at night anyway. The whole watch is attractive.

I can't tell you about some of the hard-core features like laps. I'm only going to use the watch for general fitness.

The GPS is fun to use but not make or break for me. It holds the signal well, even when going past tall trees.

I've been using this watch/sensor set up for the past 3 weeks and love it. It was easy to use right out of the box, and the more that I explore it's capabilities, the more I learn and enjoy using this system. Having the GPS to let me know how far I'm into my run is awesome, as I find it quite motivating to see the progress.

I've heard instances of people having trouble with the GPS around tall objects, but I have not had any instances of trouble with the GPS retaining a signal.

I would recommend this watch and sensor combination for sure.

This is my first HRM (let alone personal GPS system). After a few run throughs with the manual, I was quickly using the watch at the gym to track my HR Zones. With regards to heart monitoring, the watch is very easy to use and easy to read. I have had no issues.

One interesting note is that I have been using the watch during my weight-training portions of my workouts as well my cardio. It has been interesting to see which exercises have greater affect on my heart rate than others.

Also, I have recently been exploring the GPS aspect and after the initial linking of the GPS to the watch (which took about 2 minutes), there haven't been any issues. It appears very accurate, as I have mapped out various road runs with the car and come up with similar distances traveled on the Timex. I look forward to hitting some trails soon.

Great watch! I upgraded from the previous generation Timex BodyLink and have to say I LOVE this watch. I love all the features, like the waypoints and the altitude information. The GPS transmitter is smaller than the previous generation's model and easier to wear on my arm.
