very good dumbell handles, no more having to retighten like these all metal/chrome ones i have
the rubber grips in the center seem to make a huge difference with grip, so i dont have to tighten over and over during sessions because of loosening and noise. these stay put very well. occasionally tighten, but no need during a workout session for me so far, which is all i could ask for.

Not quite standard
I bought the Apex handles plus Valeo standard spring collars, to allow me to change weights faster and to more securely fasten the weight plates in place. The padding does protect one's hands when using heavy weights, reducing the formation of callouses. However, the circumference of the handles is less than standard size so the spring collars are too large. I tried the collars on a set of Weider handles I have and they fit just fine. Another annoying characteristic is the styrofoam in which the handles are packed, as it left flecks of foam on the handles and in the room where I unpacked.

pretty good for the money
i bought these about a month ago, and they work pretty good. they're nothing spectacular, and it is a pain to unscrew the threaded weight holder thingys, but it's a whole lot better than chunkin over $400 for a bowflex dumbbell selector set. for the price, worth it. if you are bodybuilding on a budget, you can't go wrong here.

Good Addition to Home Strength Training Equipment
The Apex Threaded Dumbbell Handles are terrific for people who want to start a strength training routine; or for people who already have a weight set and can use another pair of dumbbells to add variety and ease to their strength training routine.

They are designed for standard size weight plates, and are heavy enough to add resistance on their own before one starts to add weight plates (good for the true beginner). While I found the cushioned grip a little getting used to (all the bars I own have no cushion or protection of any kind), these are good in promoting good grip strength, especially when adding more weight, and they lessen the chance of callouses on the hands (another plus for the beginner). The spin locks makes changing weights very convenient; unfortunately they have the same problems other spin lock collars have: they loosen with time. But with experience, a person can find a remedy that works for them.

I give it four out of five stars for the following reasons:

1) The spin lock collars always loosen, making routines like curls a real nuisance. But don't worry about the weights falling off; you'd have to let them loosen all the way to the end of the bar for that to happen. And if you let that happen, you are the laziest person in the world. To combat it, I purchased Valeo Standard Spring Collars, which were around $2.00 a pair at the time. They hold the collars in place, so no more spinning. Yes it's redundant, but it has made things that much easier for me.

2) As stated before, I'm not crazy about the padding on the handle. But I find that more a matter of personal preference; I'm sure many people will love it.

The price is a tad bit out of my comfort zone (I paid $16 for mine on Amazon), but it may be fine for others. They're a fair price for this type of handle. Taking those issues in mind, I think a strength trainer will find these to be a fine addition to their home gym equipment.

Looks great and works great!
I like weight lifting, it's a habit I picked up when I was in high school so many years ago. But, I just don't have the time to get to the gym these days. So, I have a small selection of weights that I can use at home, at my convenience. And, among my many odd and ends are these dumbbell handles.

It is quick and easy to change the weight of each dumbbell, and when it is together, it stays together, rather than the plates rotating and threatening to unscrew the collars. Yeah, I agree, if you are going to leave the weights set up, you will want to periodically retighten the nuts. But, I tend to take them apart at the end of a workout, so what I appreciate is the speed with which they can be set up, changed, re-changed, and finally take apart. And then I can stack everything up in a cupboard and have my area all clean.

I have had these handles for sometime now, and am quite happy with them. If you or someone you know wants to do some light weightlifting to get back into shape, then I highly suggest that you get these handles. Looks great and works great!
