Disappointing
I bought this unit because of its favorable reviews in a consumer magazine, but have been less than impressed. The view from the top is handy, but the reset button on the front seems to reset itself with minimal pressure throughout the day, which makes it rather useless.
I've thought about returning it for a refund, but by the time I paid the postage and their restocking fee, it just wasn't worth the effort. So instead it will sit in a basket with assorted other orphan products and eventually end up in a garage sale.
I would not recommend this model to others.

Do not use in humidity
This little product works pretty well in normal climate, but it totally malfunctions in humidity, dampness, or if it gets sweaty. The display totally locks up, until it dries out again and then, eventually, most of the numbers return. It does this even if the device was not subjected directly to water. 2008-10-11
Freestyle Tracer Pedometer
This is a nice accurate pedometer. It's only problem is that there is nothing protecting the buttons. If you wear it on your waistline and lean on something or sit just right it resets itself. I've had this pedometer for a few weeks now and it has only made it through one day without resetting itself at some point during the day. 2008-09-28
Design flaw overrides accuracy
This product was rated a best buy by Consumer Reports. That's why I purchased it. However, it has one BIG flaw - the reset button is not protected by a cover and it was easily pushed by the slightest touch and I would lose track of whatever progress I had built up. If they re-design it to have a cover over the buttons, they will have the perfect product. 2008-09-13
My second Freestyle
This is the second Freestyle that I have owned. My first served me well for many years. I have tried a number of other brands that were more stylish but not as accurate or compact. I like the new addition of the safety leash since I had made my own for my previous Freestyle. I did have a problem opening the clasp on the front cover and broke a fingernail in my attempt. That was fixed by shaving a tiny bit of the plastic from the clasp. Now it opens and closes perfectly. 2008-08-02
